Transforming a 2D concept in to a 3D award is child’s play for 3D Trophy Factory.
What’s in a name, right?
There are many ways to go about creating a 3D award from a 2D logo. It can range from really simple and sleek to really elaborate designs with lots of organic elements or geometrical shapes. All depends on the brief and expectations from the client.
The possibilities are endless and with custom manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing, laser cutting and CNC any design is within our reach.
The most used and most effective way of creating a 3D object from a 2D concept is extrusion. This method extends an object along its Z axis to give it depth and body.
Example of extrusion
In the example below we have transformed simple 2D text in to a fun 3D award for Deloitte. You can also try this yourself by creating your own text totem in our webshop.
The awards we made for the Belgian National Lottery are a bit more complex than regular extrusion.
For this project 3D Trophy Factory designed a more organic 3D shape based on the 2D logo of the client. The creative project starts from the original 2D logo and goes through a creative design process driven by our designers and based on the client’s input.
An other example of a more complex conversion is the award we made for the city of Antwerp. At first glance it looks like an intricate 3D structure but standing right in front of it you recognize the typical logo of the city of Antwerp.

At 3D Trophy Factory we find inspiration in all kinds of places and things. For this design exercise we turned our gaze towards the Middle East and created this beautifully luxurious Thousand-and-One-Nights style.
The designs have been kept clean and minimal but the materials used are high quality and give the awards an opulent and exclusive look.
We translated our classic text totem into a golden text totem with arabic letters.
The lantern style domes that you see a lot in the arabic architecture were an inspirational element for several of the designs.
The materials for these designs should be luxurious and high grade: 3D printed metals, engraved crystal and marble. These will give the awards, business gifts and trophies an elegant and exclusive look and feel.
We absolutely love this new style and hope you are as enthusiastic as we are!
Do you think this style is perfect for an award or trophy you are thinking of?

For the fourth time in a row the Belgian public television VRT awarded their Diversiteitstrofee VRT. This award recognizes people and programs that approach diversity and colleagues in a creative and conscious way. Have a look at the winners here.
The original design idea for the award was a 2D design by graphic designer Gudrun Makelberge which 3D Trophy Factory translated in to a 3D printed trophy.
We made some initial sketches based on Gudrun’s design and in time all parties agreed on a final 3D rendering of the original idea.

The purple 3D prints are placed on an oak foot which has been laser engraved with playful designs to show the different categories. We kept the award very minimal, so the finer laser engravings on the oak foot jump out really nicely.
