A company totem for Greatist

Greatist is company committed to helping you find the best way to a healthy and happy life.

For their offices they wanted a totem that represented their positive spirit and outlook on life and that would serve as a reminder to everyone to hold on to that healthy attitude and have fun while doing so.

The 3D Factory Designers created a totem that was based on the Greatist’s 5 icons.  A Thumbs Up, a leaf, a doughnut, a cattle bell and an avocado. greatist_trophy_iconsFrom the input above our designers created a really cool and whimsical totem that incorporated all elements.greatist_design
The final result is a 3D printed totem that was spray painted gold (for that glamorous look) and is perched on an oak foot that was laser engraved with the Greatist logo.
This was a really fun collaboration and it looks like friends at Greatist are really happy with their new company totem as well.

Meet the star of the 3D Trophy Factory family

stima_3d_text_totem

Hi,

I am the 3D text totem! I am the all-time classic of the 3D trophy factory and was their first creation.

I am very popular as a give-away award for big international events and conferences.3d_text_totem_02

Why?

I am fully 3D, so people are really surprised when they get me 🙂

I am fully customizable from top to bottom – your message appears in 3D and I can be engraved with logo’s on my base.3d_text_totem_01

I can be created with a 3D trophy factory configurator, in an amount from 1 to 5000.tedx_text_totem

I am small, so I fit in the suitcase of your speakers, attendees or members.
They will never forget me in their hotel room.

Curious? You can create me here or contact my father for special version.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Q8 business gifts

q8_business_gift01

To celebrate the opening of their new Antwerp plant, Q8 Oils wanted to offer their guests a commemorative gift.

The brief was simple, the design had to be based on the Q8 logo and the actual logo had to be freestanding from the rest of the design. After the approval of one of the design sketches, we created a 3D rendering for a better idea of what the final gifts would look like.

q8_design_processThe design process

In the end the client decided on two different executions of the same design. The first design has a black acrylic background covered with a laser engraved metal foil and the 3D printed logo mounted on the front. The second design was executed in a laser cut and laser engraved transparent acrylic.

In total 270 guest received one of these beautiful gifts to remember the Q8 plant opening.

Mark your partnerships with 3D tombstones

In November 2015, Buysse & Partners and Twikit joined forces to embark on a global 3D journey . Buysse & Partners is an investment firm with a global vision. Twikit is an enabler of online 3D customization.

With the motto ‘Walk the talk’, the 3D Trophy Factory team created a unique deal gift to mark the collaboration between Twikit and Buysse & Partners.

The space travel theme of the tombstone refers to the ambition of the partnership. Together with Buysse and Partners, we aim for the 3D customization sky and believe in infinite possibilities our collaboration will bring.dealgift2

To create a differentiating look for this unique 3D deal gift the custom elements were 3D printed and were combined with glass and a laser engraved oak foot.

Meanwhile this unique creation has found its place in the headquarters of Buysse&Partners.buysse_partners_collaboration

Design Inspiration – Thousand and One Nights

At 3D Trophy Factory we find inspiration in all kinds of places and things. For this design exercise we turned our gaze towards the Middle East and created this beautifully luxurious Thousand-and-One-Nights style.deluxe_relief_full1

The designs have been kept clean and minimal but the materials used are high quality and give the awards an opulent and exclusive look.delux_texttotem

We translated our classic text totem into a golden text totem with arabic letters.

The lantern style domes that you see a lot in the arabic architecture were an inspirational element for several of the designs. deluxe_shape_composite

The materials for these designs should be luxurious and high grade: 3D printed metals, engraved crystal and marble. These will give the awards, business gifts and trophies an elegant and exclusive look and feel.cristal_metal_sheet

We absolutely love this new style and hope you are as enthusiastic as we are!

Do you think this style is perfect for an award or trophy you are thinking of?

Diversity Trophy VRT

For the fourth time in a row the Belgian public television VRT awarded their Diversiteitstrofee VRT. This award recognizes people and programs that approach diversity and colleagues in a creative and conscious way. Have a look at the winners here.

The original design idea for the award was a 2D design by graphic designer Gudrun Makelberge which 3D Trophy Factory translated in to a 3D printed trophy.

We made some initial sketches based on Gudrun’s design and in time all parties agreed on a final 3D rendering of the original idea.

The purple 3D prints are placed on an oak foot which has been laser engraved with playful designs to show the different categories. We kept the award very minimal, so the finer laser engravings on the oak foot jump out really nicely.

how_we_workWe start with a short briefing

Creativity starts with constraints. We need to know precisely what you are looking for, what materials you’re eyeballing, which elements you want to feature, in which context the trophy will be given,… Expect us to listen, ask questions and show plenty of examples at this stage.

Next stage is sketching

You’ll probably already see our designers doodle and sketch during the first meeting. You wouldn’t believe the amount of pencils and notebooks we go through in a month. But it’s crucial to have plenty of drafts and ideas to cover different takes and angles on the subject, and spark the creativity. It’s just as fun as it sounds. (And, yes, we take budget constraints into account as well).

Off to the machines! From pencil sketches we go to 3D models and rendered images on our computer screen. They almost look real (even though they are in fact 2D illusions). Here, we craft and shape and rethink every detail of the design to ultimately end up with precisely the trophy you wanted.

Happy with the design? Then let’s do some printing! Actually, it’s a bit more technical than that! The production files need to be prepared, printing techniques have to be selected and finishes have to be decided upon. But those skills are embedded in our DNA (and they’ve actually already played a part in the design stage too).

When we offer you the end product, we know you’re not the actual recipient of the trophy. You’re going to give it away to someone else. And that’s probably the real beauty of designing a trophy: there’s always a winner at the end of it!

In which materials can you print 3D awards?

The designers at 3D Trophy Factory have many materials and production techniques to choose from when creating a design for a new award, trophy or business gift. One of the most used production techniques to bring our award designs to live is 3D printing.

There are many materials to choose from when it comes to 3D printing. Generally speaking the purpose of the printed product often dictates the print material but in the case of 3D printed awards and trophies almost anything goes!

The most commonly used materials are plastics and metals (which are actually first printed in wax and then cast in the right metal). The print material you choose, goes hand in hand with the production method used.

SLA vs SLS

The most commonly used production methods for 3D printing at this time are SLA and SLS.

Briefly, stereolithography (SLA) is a printing method where material is added in layers.

Laser sintering (SLS) is a printing method where the model is built up from a powder batch.

A list of the our most commonly used materials for 3D printing awards and trophies.

Polyamide (nylon)

Strong and flexible plastic. Made from powder.

Resin

Delicate plastic. Made from liquid photopolymer cured with UV light

Multicolor

Rigid type, made from powder. Available in rainbow style.
