The first part of this event took place from 6 to 9 July. The next event which is called “The Summer Circuit” takes place from 12 to 23 July.

The 3D trophy factory team is now in it’s 3rd year as exclusive award partner for Knokke Hippique. The award itself is inspired by a classic sea-side and beach theme, in true style of our Belgian Coast. The 2 main colors blue and white are in line with the event’s house style, resulting in a simple yet elegant design.
Also this year, we’ve created multiple designs for the entire course of the event. For the Knokke Hippique Jumping previous weekend, we’ve made the awards with a 3D printed lighthouse on top. The foot is oak and hand finished with white paint in our design studio.
For the Summer’s Circuit we have a variety of different sizes, with a 3D printed beach chair as the centre piece. The foot is also in oak and hand painted by our talented team.
To accommodate all those international top-class horses and riders, there is an area of over 30 hectares with two huge competition fields in Knokke , where competitions will take place during the day and in the evening. Next to the event there will also be lifestyle shows, live performances and restaurants present.
Knokke Hippique is a summer’s highlight for the equestrian world but also for our team; the awards remain to be one of our personal favorite designs.
Konami is one of the most well known and well respected video game developers worldwide. The multinational contacted us earlier this year for a project of a size we’ve never seen for before.
The company needed our help for an award that celebrated the winner of the PES league. For all you non-gamers out there: PES is an abbreviation for the critically acclaimed Pro Evolution Soccer.
The football video game is now in its 16th installment and continues to draw legions of devoted fans. For those seeking an even greater challenge Konami organizes the PES League World Finals, held this year in Cardiff. The best players in each country go through to a regional final in Barcelona or Liverpool. The winners there go on to the final and on June 4th only one can be crowned World PES Champion. Not coincidently, the final is played in the same weekend as the Champion’s league final.
The team made a 75 CM by 20 CM award customized to Konami’s design, making it the world’s largest 3D printed award to date.
This time care had to be taken to design this special trophy so it would print perfectly the first time. The trophy was first 3D printed and then had to be post processed by hand. Support structures had to be removed and the trophy was then hand painted.
The 3D print itself is made from a light curing resin called a photopolymer. Stereolithography works through lasers moving through a vat of this resin hardening it one layer at a time. The award has a smooth finishing, with a transparent resin on top of the massive 3d printed trophy. The logo is also 3D printed and the stickers are attached manually. With an award of this size, manual labour is a defining factor to reach this level of finishing.
Hopefully yesterday’s winner has a enough shelve space to store away this giant. We surely wish him a well deserved congratulations and hopes he enjoys his one-of-a-kind design!
Who ever said that the Pokemon revival hit it’s peak this summer with Pokemon Go has no idea what they’re talking about. The hype is still going strong, with a number of new and old disciplines where the famous characters gain an enthusiastic following of fans.
It’s safe to say that the madness isn’t stopping with Pokemon Go. Card games, merchandising, movies, toys, videogames, even Pokemon donuts are a thing now apparently.
3D trophy factory is also not planning to give up on Pokemon just yet. Apart from catching the occasional Spearow in our office, we’ve also made the awards for the first International Pokemon Championship that took place in London this december.
The event is the first of its kind, as well as three of the International Championship tournaments scheduled in the Rating Zone Oceania, North America, South America and other important upcoming tournaments across Europe.
The European champions, along with other successful participants from around the world have increased their Points Championship with the aim of securing a place at the 2017 World Championships. Well done to all players!
