Flanders Basf Trophy

For the fifth year in a row, Flanders Investment & Trade held the prestigious Foreign Investment Trophy on February 21, 2017. The Ghelamco Arena in Ghent provided a setting fit for this thrilling investment competition – highlighting the importance of foreign investment as an economic driver in Flanders and the world.

While five multinationals competed for the trophy for Investment of the Year, two other investors were acknowledged – one with the Lifetime Achievement Trophy, the other with the title of Newcomer of the Year

And the winners are…

Flanders Sanofi Award
Following a final, live voting poll, French biopharma firm Sanofi claimed the grand prize at the Foreign Investment Trophy for funneling EUR 300 million into the expansion of its biotech factory in Geel, Flanders.

Flanders Basf Trophy
The Lifetime Achievement Trophy goes to German Chemical Giant BASF, five decades after opening its first base at the port of Antwerp in Flanders.

Flanders Kebony Trophy

And last but not least, Kebony could take home the award for Newcomer of the Year.

By choosing Flanders as the location for its first production site outside of its home country, Norwegian wood producer Kebony secured this very first trophy for Newcomer of the Year at the Foreign Investment Trophy 2017.
